G. Scatchard Lamps
The High-Low Mini Lamps (GS-1 & GS-11) are much smaller than the small lamps we have made in the past. They have 11 inch diameter clip on shades that are safe up to 75 watts. Both styles have a hi-low switch on the cord to provide two levels of light from a regular incandescent bulb. These lamps are great for nite lights, and where space is limited.
All of our current styles and colors are shown here. However, there are several discontinued styles that are still available by special order, and some new styles that have not yet been announced. There are also many colors we can make that have never become popular. If you have a need for something special, give us a call, and we will see what we can do.

This high Quality dimmer socket turns the lamp on and off and allows you to adjust the light so the same lamp can work as a night light, for low level "mood light" or for reading. These sockets can use up to a 150 watt bulb, and will eliminate the need for expensive 3-way bulbs while saving electricity and extending bulb life.
Our lamps come with a brown cord. If you prefer we can substitute a
white or Clear Silver Cord which may be less conspicuous in some settings.
If you can't wait for us to make your order, we can often find something in stock that you will like. We always have a couple of hundred lamps on hand that can be shipped within 24 hours if you call on a week day. When you call, we will ask what you are looking for. Next we will tell you what is available that you might like. Then you can check the web site to see exactly which style and color we have in stock. We can take your order by phone, or you can order on line, and we can usually ship the same day.
We are located on Vermont Route 15, half way between the towns of Underhill Flats and Cambridge. We are in a wood shingle building with a green metal roof on the west side of the road. With the flags flying and the lamp sign out front, we are hard to miss. To get here takes about forty minutes from either Burlington or Stowe. We are open Monday through Friday 8:30 to 4:30 and Saturday 9:30 to 4:30.
Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. If you are not happy, return the lamp and we will replace it, repair it, or refund your money. The choice is yours. You must be satisfied or our job is not done.
Yes, we never sell or trade our customer list to anyone for any reason. Your contact information is used by us to process your order and to let you know about new items, sales and other news that may come up from time to time. If you don't want to be on our list, just ask to have your name removed.
Regarding your credit card information, the shopping cart system we use is very secure in the way it handles credit card numbers. In addition to the usual secure servers and encryption, your credit card number is divided into two parts. The first part is transmitted to us with your order. We must get the second part from a separate secure server by using a special password that is ours alone. We believe the "Americart" system is very safe.
If you are not comfortable with this method, you may use our toll free number to phone or fax us the credit card information, or mail a check.
Our shades are made of a heavy domestic linen in a light cream color. It is almost white, as shown in the photographs. The linen texture shows when the lamp is turned on. We can switch shade styles at no charge on many of the lamps to get a different look.
Often there are substitutions that look great and surely will give you a different feel. We would be happy to discuss the possibilities with you. Some changes of shades are not appropriate and will be downright ugly.
If you are using the shopping cart system, you will see a "special instructions/comments" box where you can give us any instructions you might have. This box appears after you have chosen your method of payment. If you call or fax in your order, feel free to let us know what you want, and we will get back to you with an answer.

Often when people move to a new home, or are setting up a home for the first time they need lots of lamps. For these larger sales, we can offer volume discounts due to the efficiency of packing many shades in one box and the lower handling costs of processing larger orders.

You can mix and match the lamps any way you like, and even give some as gifts as long as we don't have to ship them to a different address.
